RESOURCES

Buy ENERGY STAR® Products

ENERGY STAR is a joint program of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy. It identifies products and practices that help you save money and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by meeting strict energy-efficiency guidelines. These products deliver the same or better performance as comparable models while using less energy.

The ENERGY STAR label also designates superior energy performance in homes and buildings. In fact, you can make your entire home ENERGY STAR compliant.

Homes that qualify for ENERGY STAR are typically 20% to 30% more energy-efficient than standard homes.

When shopping, look for products with the ENERGY STAR label. It is usually displayed prominently on the front of the product. Some home insulation goods, like fiberglass rolls and batts, may also carry the ENERGY STAR label.

Products in more than 50 categories can earn the Energy Star. These include:

• Air conditioners
• Boilers
• Compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs)
• Computers
• Copiers
• Dishwashers
• Dryers
• DVD players
• Furnaces
• Home audio
• Home insulation and air sealing products
• Light fixtures
• Phone chargers
• Printers
• Refrigerators
• TVs
• Washers
