Local Transportation in Stamford, CT
Stamford is well served by public transportation and major highways such as I-95 and the Merritt Parkway. I-95 runs close to Stamford's downtown offices, while the Merritt Parkway provides convenient access to the city's other major commercial hub along High Ridge and Long Ridge Roads.
CT Transit Bus Service
A network of public bus routes take passengers between the Stamford train station at the Stewart B. McKinney Transportation Center and points throughout the city.
Some routes extend beyond the City, to Norwalk, Darien, Greenwich and Westchester County.
In addition, private bus shuttles provided by employers offer easy commuting between Stamford office buildings and the Transportation Center.

Metro-North Railroad and Amtrak
Stamford is the second-busiest station on the New Haven line of the Metro-North Railroad system, after Grand Central Station. About 83 express and local trains leave Stamford for New York City daily. An equal number arrive in Stamford from Grand Central and either terminate or head to stations north.
Stamford is also a major station along Amtrak's Northeast Corridor. Amtrak's local and Acela trains stop at Stamford, for travel to Boston, New York or Hartford.
Parking is available adjacent to the train station and at a Park & Ride lot near Exit 35 of the Merritt Parkway.
