FERGUSON LIBRARY OFFERS DROP-IN
ENGLISH CONVERSATION GROUPS
CHILDREN'S PROGRAMMING TOO
The Ferguson Library offers an informal way for English language learners to practice their skills. The Library’s Let’s Talk English Conversation groups connect learners with volunteers who help participants practice their English in a relaxed, conversational setting. The weekly sessions are on a drop-in basis. Let’s Talk is offered at the Main Library and South End Branch.
Now, thanks to a grant from the Fairfield County Community Foundation the Library is able to offer parallel children’s programming while parents are participating in Let’s Talk. The children’s program, Kids Talk 2, is available at the Main Library only. Kids Talk 2 is a rich language and literacy experience with an emphasis on fun for children ages 5 – 10. Adults do not need to sign up for Let’s Talk, but please call 351-8226 or 8228 to register your child for Kids Talk 2, so we can adequately prepare. Supervised children’s activities are available upon request at the South End Branch for children ages 5 – 10. Call 351-8280 for more information.
Let’s Talk is generously supported by the Fairfield County Community Foundation. It began in 2005 as part of a federal Library Services and Technology Act grant. Each week volunteers work with a small group, focusing on everyday topics such as shopping, cooking, etc. The program has been very successful, with 1,176 people attending Let’s Talk groups at the Library this past fiscal year.
