In these trying economic times, I am working with my administration to do everything we can to mitigate the impact of the global financial crisis in Stamford.   Of course, one of the best ways to ensure financial stability in a community is to support the workforce and make sure our residents are employed.   One way to grow jobs in the City of Stamford is to focus on projects that will create high quality, long-term job opportunities while at the same time, building our local infrastructure and improving our neighborhoods.

The City of Stamford recently compiled a comprehensive list of projects that are considered ready-to-go in anticipation of emergency funding from the Federal Government.  We came up with a list of over $50 million worth of different projects that range from Community Development Block Grants, public housing and energy, to transit and highway infrastructure, to green jobs, school modernization and public safety.  All of the projects on our list could be started immediately and completed within the span of two years if federal funding were made available.  The implementation of these projects would also result in the creation of thousands of jobs in Stamford.
