NEW EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS WEBSITE FOR THE CITIZENS OF STAMFORD The City of Stamford has launched a new Emergency Preparedness Website for the Citizens of Stamford: www.bepreparedstamford.org. In the weeks following the Hurricane Katrina tragedy, the Mayor, along with the City of Stamford’s Office of Public Safety, Health and Welfare, conducted a table top exercise and assessed how the City can better prepare for an emergency event. Informing residents on how to prepare for such an event was a critical component during this exercise and, as a result, the creation of an emergency website was introduced. It is imperative that the public have the necessary information they will need during an emergency situation. It could take time for the City and local citizens to receive assistance from the State or Federal governments during an emergency. www.bepreparedstamford.org/Text/Default.html, a special “text-only” version of the website, is also available and is linked to the www.bepreparedstamford.org home page at the very top. This is important because it puts the City in compliance with the Americans With Disabilities Act. |
