This column is a little bit different than the ones I have previously written for this publication. This quarter’s column is my personal tribute to my colleague, my mentor, my friend, Tim Curtin.
Tim retired as Director of Operations for the City of Stamford in January. But this is not about how he paved the roads, or about how he fixed the sidewalks, or about how he picked up your leaves. Don’t get me wrong, those are all very important things. It’s not like I don’t want to brag about how under Tim’s leadership the City upgraded its wastewater treatment facility – the largest capital project in the City’s history – on time and under budget; or that Tim and his team constructed, rebuilt and/or refurbished nearly all of the school buildings in our City; or that Tim got the ball rolling – finally – to move the Mill River project forward from just a vision to a reality; or that Tim started the effort that has now culminated in the Old Town Hall Redevelopment Agency, the group charged with restoring the Old Town Hall to its former glory; or that Tim has raised our collective consciousness about the importance of public art to the fabric of a community.
