STAMFORD MUSEUM & NATURE CENTER
What would we do without our volunteers? From playing zombies in our haunted house to clearing paths in the woods, our volunteers make so much of what we do possible at Stamford Museum & Nature Center. We couldn’t do it without them. What makes someone want to volunteer? Wikipedia defines a volunteer as “someone who serves in a community or for the benefit of one’s natural environment primarily because they choose to do so.” What a revolutionary and utterly human notion. But for many of us there’s a personal benefit too. Maybe you’ve suddenly found yourself with some more free time. Maybe you have a particular interest close to your heart, or a talent you want to share. Or maybe you just want to meet new people and try new and different things. At Stamford Museum & Nature Center, our volunteers get a kick out of the variety of events we host – from our wine tasting in June to our recent motorcycle & Italian festival. If you’ve got an interest, we’ve probably got an event to fit it.
Others have spent countless hours out on our Wheels in the Woods trail or helping out on Heckscher Farm. We’ve had corporate groups from Five Mile Capital and KPMG come out and literally transform our sculpture trail overnight. To all who have given their time, talents and enthusiasm, we just want to say thank you!
