STAMFORD SENIOR CENTER

Stamford Senior Center Goes “Above and Beyond” In Services to Stamford Senior Adults and Those who Care For Them. Among the numerous programs and resources offered to the community are the following:

· The Triad Yellow Dot Program is sponsored by People’s United Bank, and in cooperation with Stamford Senior Center is now available for Stamford Residents. Yellow Dot is an information tool to notify Emergency Responders, Police, Fire, and EMS, which will find very crucial medical information in the glove compartment of a car that has been involved in an accident. The necessary information card can be picked up in the Senior Center. The Yellow Dot will not be given out until a Staff member of the Senior Center checks the information card to be sure it has been filled out, and a current picture of the Senior is attached. Then the Yellow Dot will be given to be attached to the back windshield of the car, and a plastic bag will be given to keep the information card in good shape in the glove compartment. For further information, and to pick up the information card, come to the Senior Center on the 2nd floor of the Government Center.

· There is an information kiosk in the Government Center Lobby near the Security Desk sponsored by the Stamford Senior Center. It holds brochures to assist Senior Adults and their family/friends to be aware of information that might be helpful in dealing with a variety of health and wellness issues of Senior Adults. It has information from the State and Federal governments, Stamford Health Department and Stamford Hospital and organizations that serve Seniors, such as the Southwestern CT Agency on Aging and Stamford Senior Center.

· The Senior Center hosts AARP Safe Driving classes 2 Saturday Mornings per month-almost every month. Call 977-5151 to register.

· Beginning Feb. 1 the AARP Tax E-filers will be working as volunteers to assist computer filing income taxes. Individuals may call the Senior Center for an appointment after Jan. 20, 2008, at 977-5151. AARP volunteers will be available at other Stamford sites as well.
