BOOK DISCUSSIONS AND READERS’ SERVICES AT THE FERGUSON LIBRARY
Looking for a good book? The Ferguson Library’s winter/spring book discussion series is underway at the Main Library and Branches. The books are compelling and the discussions lively. New participants are always welcome. No registration necessary – just drop in.
The Main Library discussion group focuses on contemporary authors and meets one Tuesday a month at 7 p.m. The Harry Bennett Branch Readers’ Choice group meets monthly on Thursday evenings; the Weed Memorial & Hollander Branch holds afternoon discussions the first Monday of the month; and the South End Branch group, which highlights African and African-American authors, meets once a month on Mondays at 7 p.m.
We can also help you with your own discussion group. Our book discussion collection has multiple copies of over 200 titles, and our librarians are happy to help you choose books your group will enjoy. Ask our staff to put together a Book Discussion to Go kit - with multiple copies of your discussion book, and a discussion guide that includes suggested questions and background information on the book and author.
Check our website at www.fergusonlibrary.org under “Books & More” for our book discussion schedule and links to websites and databases for book groups. You’ll find information on how to start a discussion group, recommended new releases for book groups, as well as biographical and critical information on classics and acclaimed authors. Some of the databases require a Ferguson Library card for access.
Please call 351-8231 if you need help or for more information on any of our book discussion services.
The Library’s book discussions are generously supported by the Friends of Ferguson.
