SUMMER READING AT THE FERGUSON LIBRARY Summer is just around the corner! And that means exciting summer reading programs at The Ferguson Library for kids, teens and adults. Our children’s summer reading club, “Catch the Reading Bug,” begins at the end of June, and offers incentives and prizes to keep youngsters energized about reading throughout the summer. We have a busy schedule of story hours, programs, films and book discussions to keep kids coming to the Library from June through August. Look for the detailed reading club calendar, which lists all our events and programs. It will be available in the Library and will also be going home with all Stamford students before the end of the school year. You can also see our events on our website, www.fergusonlibrary.org. Our teen club, “Extreme Makeover: Mind Edition,” is open to middle and high school students. Teens entering sixth grade and up can register at any branch after school gets out and start reading! Participants earn a chance to win great prizes and an invitation to our after-hours party at the end of the summer. We are also planning some fun teen only programs throughout the summer. It’s a great way to get involved in the Library, meet other teens and read some good books too. Check the website or stop by the Library for details. We are also looking for teen volunteers age 12 and up to help out with both the teen and children’s summer reading clubs. Call 351-8243 for more information. And look for the Pre-K – 8 Summer Reading List, jointly produced by the Library and Stamford Board of Education. The list is organized by grade level and genre, and contains summer reading suggestions for all reading abilities. |
