STAMFORD MUSEUM & NATURE CENTER

GEARS UP FOR SPRING WITH LEGO®S, TRAILS, AND MORE!

Spring is always an exciting time at Stamford Museum & Nature Center, and this year we’re off to an early start! From Heckscher Farm to the Bendel Mansion Museum Galleries, our 118-acre site is already bustling with activity.

During Spring Break we hosted Family Take-A-Hike Week sponsored by Aquarion Water Company and IBM, held on April 15 through 17. This was a great opportunity for families to spend some time together getting some fresh air and physical activity. Hikes were geared for all ages and abilities. As always, there was also a tree planting and a scavenger hunt.

If you haven’t yet, you’ll want to stop in our galleries to see the amazing exhibition, Architecture of the Imagination: The Lure of the LEGO® Brick featuring Nathan Sawaya: The Art of the Brick™, sponsored by Life Options, LLC and The Aron Family, which is on view through August 17, 2008. Stop in on most Saturdays and you’ll see the All Aboard with Bill Probert & Friends team at work on their LEGO Trainscape. Mark your calendars for June 29, when our featured artist Nathan Sawaya will be on-site to work on a new LEGO brick creation. Try your hand at your own LEGO masterpiece in our Hands-On Corner.

On May 3, our Model Ts to Mustangs antique and classic car show returned this year with a special emphasis on the Packard. Then on May 18, we celebrate Spring on the Farm, our annual festival featuring hay rides, farm demonstrations, face painting, and much more.

Our biggest annual fundraiser – our ever-popular wine tasting – returns this year with a twist! We are excited and honored that Ste. Michelle Wine Estates will this year present our “Flights of Fancy” Wine Tasting on Friday, June 6. Under Claudia Silver’s leadership as Chair, we will kick off the summer with this much anticipated evening of great food, splendid wines, and the best friends of the SM&NC. New this year, we’ll have a live auction in addition to our silent auction. All proceeds benefit our educational mission.
