Description of Programs

A multidisciplinary group of traditional and non-traditional providers together with parents dedicated to the Vision that children and adolescents with behavioral health needs will have access to a broad array of services that are easily accessibly, family drive, culturally competent, effective, and promote a community without stigma.

Core Values for System of Care

  • Services should be child centered with the needs of the child and family dictating the types and mix of services provided
  • Services should be community based, with the locus of services as well as management and decision making responsibility resting at the community level
  • The System of Care should be culturally competent, with agencies, programs, and services that are responsive to the cultural, racial, and ethnic differences of the population they serve

Activities/Programs Include:

  • ‘Family Fun Day,’ a structured recreational activity for families
  • A Youth Mentoring Project, launched by the Stamford Mayor’s office and Governor’s Prevention Project
  • Diversity Lunch Shops to promote awareness of multicultural issues in our community
  • Fundraisers and activities to promote awareness for Raise the Age, an effort to return 16 and 17 year olds to the juvenile, rather than the adult, justice system
  • Presentations to educate members about services for young adults making the transition to the adult system of care
