More Information on Licensing

Every dog must be licensed when it becomes six months old and then annually every June.  The Town Clerk issues licenses for dogs in his/her Town.

Fees:

 $ 8.00 for each Neutered male/Spayed female

 $19.00 for each Unneutered male/Unspayed female

There is a $1.00 per month (or fraction thereof) penalty when an owner fails to license a dog, after it becomes six months old.

No license may be issued unless a valid rabies certificate, signed by a licensed veterinarian, including the date of the vaccination and duration of immunity, is presented to the Town Clerk.

Notices are mailed in May of each year, to all present Stamford dog owners to assist in the licensing process.

Rabies Vaccination clinics are held annually and are publicly announced.

If a dog owner moves his/her residence to another Connecticut Town, he or she must present the current license and tag to the Town Clerk of his/her new town of residence.  A new tag and license will be issued at a cost of $5.00.

Lost dog tags may be replaced at a cost of $3.00.
