The Center maintains a comprehensive database on U.S. grantmakers. It operates research, education, and training programs designed to advance philanthropy at every level. The Center provides free resources through its website, five regional library/learning centers, and a national network of more than 325 Cooperating Collections.

A source for nonprofits to share information about their organizations. Any nonprofit can contribute information about its mission, programs, leaders, goals, accomplishments, and needs—for free. GuideStar combines the information that nonprofits supply with data from several other sources. GuideStar provides donors, funders, researchers, educators, professional service providers, governing agencies, and the media with information. In addition, GuideStar offers charity verification, compensation benchmarking, research, qualification, market analysis, outreach, development, and oversight services.

A step by step outline meeting the needs of most funders, or to use as a guide when approaching a funder with no written guidelines. The outline is for a project proposal, and is most appropriate for a project that is trying to correct a problem, such as water pollution, school truancy or ignorance about how HIV/AIDS is transmitted.

The Center on Philanthropy

A part of the School of Liberal Arts at Indiana University/Purdue University at Indianapolis. The Center on Philanthropy does not offer grants to nonprofit organizations. The Center provides training to nonprofit organizations on how to prepare successful grant proposals through The Fund Raising School.
