Scofieldtown Landfill Closure and North Stamford Groundwater Issues
This page is intended to provide a location for City officials to update the public on our efforts to deal with contamination in the Scofieldtown area. This includes well contamination to the east of the site as well as the former landfill site itself. This site is also the location where the public can access reports, maps, links and other information pertaining to these contamination problems. That information is organized below, or may be reached using the tabs at the top of this page.
The City closed Scofieldtown Park in May 2009 because of contaminated soil found at that location. The site of the former landfill encompasses not only that park, but the recycling center and leaf composting facility as well. The recycling center remains open (click here for hours and information), as does the leaf composing facility.
The next meeting of the Scofieldtown Area Remediation Task Force will take place on March 9, 2010 6:30 pm - Government Center 4th floor Legislative Chamber - Government Center Calendar
