The general mission of the division is to maintain the fleet of vehicles and equipment of the Office of Operations and certain other department vehicles in a road worthy condition.

The division tracks the maintenance of vehicles and schedules a planned replacement program for vehicles and equipment supported by the Fleet Maintenance Division. The department is also charged with investigating and implementing cost saving measures and measures to mitigate the environmental impact of the City's fleet.
