Graffiti Prevention Tips

  • Report suspicious activity while it is occurring to the Stamford Police Department. (977-4444)

  • If you are a victim of graffiti vandalism, report it to the Stamford Police Department so they can track the activity. (977-4444)

  • Quick removal of the graffiti is the greatest deterrent. (see removal section)

  • Keep your property maintained and in order as not to invite or allow the vandals to feel safe in an unruly environment.

  • If an open wall is the target: plant clinging vegetation that climb the wall or up a trellis, place thick bushes or thorny plants in front of the wall.

  • Increase lighting around your property combined with motion sensors.

  • If the area has had repeat occurrences, consider a protective paint coating on the surface which will aid in the future removal of the graffiti.

  • Consider video surveillance for your property.
