Stamford Emergency Communications 
City of Stamford Now Recruiting For: Computer Systems Administrator - Emergency Communications Center The Department of Emergency Communications is one part of the City's comprehensive public safety response system. The command center is located in the Stamford Government Center and is staffed by civilian response personnel 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Personnel gather information concerning an emergency problem or complaint and relay information to public safety agencies who decide on appropriate courses of action. DEC personnel track each incident and process updated information as a situation progresses. Division of Emergency Management The Division of Emergency Management is the informational and general public safety resource center for the city. D.E.M. serves as a liaison for the mayor and key government officials during public emergencies. The division is staffed by a single director who is currently Thomas Lombardo.
D.E.M. provides information to and coordinates activities with representatives of the four local public safety departments, volunteer fire departments, utility companies, transportation agencies, area towns and the various state and federal agencies which comprise the local public safety network.
Stamford's EM division is the cornerstone agency for the four area towns (Stamford, Greenwich, Darien and New Canaan) which are the members of the Southwest Regional LEPC (Local Emergency Planning Committee). Although the LEPC's primary task deals with chemical emergencies, the networking developed has enabled Stamford to participate meaningfully in a variety of inter-city and intra-state activities.
Stamford's renewed commitment in Emergency Management has been endorsed and acknowledged by State and Federal emergency management officials. |
