Environmental Health: Microwave Antennas

The Stamford Health Department, Environmental Health and Inspections Division reviews all applications for advisory permits from any person, partnership, corporation, firm, joint venture or other entity not under the exclusive jurisdiction of the Department of Public Utility Control seeking to own, lease, construct or operate a microwave transmission facility involving greater than 5 watts input into the antenna.

Chapter 160 of the Stamford City Code of Ordinances indicates the steps necessary for processing of the advisory permit application so as to provide the Citizens of Stamford with the greatest assurance of safety relating to the construction and operation of the requested facility.

Test monitoring of the microwave frequencies is conducted by members of the Environmental Health Inspections staff.
