Environmental Health: Schools And Daycare

Schools:

The Stamford Health Department, Environmental Health and inspections Division inspects Public, Private and Parochial Schools annually so as to verify compliance with the Connecticut State Public Health Code Section 19-13-B30.

Specific areas of inspection concern are: toilet accommodations, water supply, cafeterias, drinking fountains, washing facilities, heating, lighting, ventilation and general sanitation.

Day Care Centers:

The Stamford Health Department Environmental Health and Inspections Division inspects Child Day Care Centers and Group Day Care Homes as required by the Connecticut State Department of Public Health every two (2) years and prior to a new license being issued.

A Child Day Care Center provides a program of supplementary care for more than 12 children.

A Group Day Care Home provides a program of supplementary care for 7-12 children.

Family Day Care Homes consist of up 6 children and are regulated by the Connecticut State Department of Health.

The Environmental Health Inspections Division reviews all building plans for new Day Care Facilities as well as renovation plans for existing facilities to verify compliance with State Public Health Code Regulations.
