Environmental Health: Weights And Measures

The Stamford Health Department, Environmental Health and Inspections Division staff includes one inspector who is designated as being the Sealer of Weights and Measures.

The Sealer of Weights and Measures annually inspects the devices used for commercial weighing and measuring.  

Licenses for the devices inspected are issued and are valid for one year from the date of issuance.

The types of devices inspected include:

  • Retail Motor Fuel Meter
  • Load Rack Meter
  • Taxi Cab Meter
  • Vehicle Tank Meter
  • Scales (Grocery and Hardware)
