APPLICATIONS WILL BE TAKEN ONLY ON TUESDAYS & THURSDAYS EXCEPT FOR
Last day for applications which falls on Wednesday, September 15, 2010

Requirements for Eligibility
- All applicants must be 65 as of 12/31/09 OR receiving Social Security Disability benefits.
- All applicants must have resided in the State of Connecticut for one full year at some time in your life, and also be a resident of the State at the time of application.
- Qualifying income for 2009 must not exceed $32,300* for a single person, $39,500* for a married couple. *(Note: higher income limits than 2008)
Eligible renters who received cash benefits from the Department of Social Services (DSS) may apply for rent rebate. The Office of Policy and Management will deduct the monies received from DSS so long as the rebate is for at least $10 more than the cash assistance received from DSS.
Documents Required When You Apply

Twelve (12) Receipts or Canceled Checks proving rent PAID IN 2009 OR a letter from the landlord showing the gross amount paid for rent in 2009. A copy of your lease is NOT an acceptable proof of rent paid.

Twelve (12) Receipts or Canceled Checks proving you paid utility expenses (gas, electric, oil, water) in 2008 OR a letter from the utility company showing total payments in 2009.

Proof of all income for 2009 such as Forms 1099 or W2’s (Social Security, Railroad pension, Pension income, Interest Statements from the bank, Dividends, Wages, etc). If you filed an income tax return, we will need a copy to attach to your application.

Persons on disability must have current proof of disability, i.e., a TPQY from Social Security clearly indicating “Disabled Individual”.
Special Rent Rebate visitor’s passes will be available at the Lobby Security Desk which will allow you to come to the 9th floor to have your application taken. Due to staff and time constraints, there will be only 15 passes for the morning and 10 for the afternoon issued. Passes will be given out to applicants on a first-come, first-serve basis only.
If you are unable to come to the Government Center to make your application, you may designate a friend, neighbor or relative to come on your behalf. If you do not have someone who can put in an application for you, please call the Senior Outreach Coordinator, Maria V. Mason,
