Welcome to the Stamford Department of Health and Social Services. I consider it an honor and a privilege to serve the 117,000 residents and business owners of Stamford, Connecticut. Having spent much of my professional career advocating health promotion and disease prevention, serving as Director of Health and Social Services is a natural progression in my effort to continue that work on a larger scale here in Stamford.
Just as it takes effort, commitment, and resources to maintain a healthy body, it takes effort, commitment, and resources to maintain healthy communities. Fortunately, the City of Stamford has a long history of employing talented, resourceful, and committed individuals working together to make it the safe and productive community it has become.
The City's commitment to public health is evident in our numerous programs, including public health and school nursing, environmental health inspections, social services for all ages, school-based health programs, HIV/AIDS services, as well as health education and intervention in the areas of lead prevention and asthma just to name a few. My personal mission is to educate and empower people to make healthier choices regarding health promotion and disease prevention. I look forward to partnering with the community to achieve that goal.
I encourage you to contact us with your ideas. We are your Department of Health and Social Services. We are here to serve you. With all of us working together, we can help make Stamford a healthy and productive city for many years to come.
