Restaurant Ratings
|
|
The Stamford Health Department Environmental Inspections Division has decided to
use a Rating System
for food service establishments. The rating system, initiated on 03/01/2009 will
indicate the establishment's degree of compliance with the Connecticut
Public Health Code on sanitation of places dispensing foods or beverages. The
ratings of the establishment's previous four inspections shall be
posted for review.
Food Service Establishments
include restaurants, retail food stores, and food vendors.
These three categories of food establishments are responsible for maintaining an
environment that is in compliance with the State of Connecticut Public Health Code
sections 19-13-B42 and B48 as well as the City of Stamford Code of Ordinances Chapter 132.
The purposes of the codes are to assure the safety and cleanliness of the food service
establishments and of the food handlers. The inspection process creates an overview of
establishments based on the inspection sheet provided by the State of Connecticut.
This includes scrutinizing food temperatures, checking food service equipment throughout the
establishment, and lastly analysis of the food handlers activities.
Please note that the inspection Rating System is used as an encouragement to achieve maximum compliance.
It also provides public awareness on food service procedures and handing practices at the time of inspection.
